Hazaribag: A man was killed, and four other persons sustained injuries in two separate road accidents in Danua valley in the district on Wednesday when two trucks lost control and overturned while moving through the valley. On Sunday, six of a family was killed in the same area in an accident.
The first accident occurred around 3 am near Jodirahi bridge when a truck, carrying pipes from Durgapur in West Bengal to Etawah in Uttar Pradesh, overturned after reportedly suffering brake failure on the downhill stretch. Amir Singh (33), a resident of Etawah, died on the spot. The driver Amit Kumar and another occupant, Raju Yadav, sustained serious injuries.
In the second incident around 8 am near Mahanetand Kata, another pipe-laden truck heading towards Bihar lost balance and overturned. The driver Vikas Kumar (37) and co-driver Shivkant Kumar were seriously injured in the accidents. “The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital and traffic movement on the route was restored after clearance of the vehicles,” Saroj Chaudhary, the officer-in-charge of Chouparan police station, said.
Following both accidents, personnel from the Chordaha picket and an NHAI ambulance team rushed to the spot and carried out rescue operations.
